<title>New Birth Control Pills May Increase Risk of Blood Clots</title>
<description><![CDATA[<p>A&nbsp;recent article in <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/13/health/13cons.html?ex=1329800400&amp;en=dc81de62c04a3874&amp;ei=5124&amp;partner=permalink&amp;exprod=permalink">The New York Times</a>&nbsp;discussed the long standing controversy over whether the&nbsp;newest form of birth control pills on the market today causes blood clots more often than those that came before. The newer pills contain a synthetic form of the hormone progestin, called desogestrel. The older version of the pills did not use this form of synthetic progestin, and it is the desogestrel that many believe to be the possible link for a higher incidence of blood clots in women using the newer generation pills. </p>
